Annual Pinning Ceremony

The annual pinning ceremony is held at the beginning of each Spring semester.聽 聽Students who have successfully completed a minimum of 30 credit hours and received the recommendation of their academic advisor will receive the Graduate Public Health Program (GPHP) pin designed by Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Ruby Perry and Program Director Attorney Crystal M. James.聽 This pin signifies their readiness to complete the final stages of their professional training with the competencies and skills necessary for the public health work force.聽 Also, during this ceremony students who have successfully completed at least one academic semester of course work and identified their area of focus for experiential learning and community engagement receives the GPHP blazer which signifies that they are prepared to engage in practical experience in the field of public health and represent the mission of the GPHP.

Congrats to the TUCVM's Department of Public Health (DPH) Graduate Program students who were recently pinned as candidates for the MPH degree. The Pinning Ceremony was held Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. in the Patterson Hall Auditorium. The guest speaker who presented the Student Challenge was Kenneth Ray, deputy director for the Tobacco, Policy, System & Environmental Change for Chronic Disease Prevention at the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Jackets and pins were presented by DPH faculty members: Atty. Crystal James (director), Dr. Ehsan Abdalla, Dr. Lloyd Webb, and Dr. John Heath. DPH graduate student participants included: Nathalia Beras Rarmirez, De La Cruz, Mylo Howard, Samina Akhter, and Oyoyo Egiebor-Aiwan.
