Technology Transfer (TT)

Technology Transfer (TT) provides services for 精东AV Innovators, from protecting intellectual property to the commercialization of new discoveries through licensing and/or new enterprise development. It serves as a link between the commercial marketplace and 精东AV faculty. TT offers 精东AV researchers expertise and guidance regarding the protection of intellectual property, including patents and copyrights, and in seeking licensing agreements with commercial entities to take 精东AV research developments into the marketplace for the public benefit.

Technology Transfer is led by the Vice President, Research and Sponsored Programs. 听

The Office of Technology Transfer aims for efficiency听and expediency in听handling your inventions and innovative new ideas.
Below are the steps our office takes to help you begin the journey to听protecting your intellectual property.听

Research activities often lead to听discoveries

An invention is any useful听process,
machine, composition of matter, or any
new or useful improvement of the same.听

File a Disclosure Form, immediately,if you believe听
your听invention has听the potential to be patent protected.听听


IMPORTANT: 听It is critical to avoid public
disclosure听of your听innovation before filing
a patent application.

听听

Present your invention to the
Intellectual听Property Committee.
During this听presentation you will pitch
your听idea/invention to the committee,
attempting听to convince them why
TU should pursue听patent protection.听

Inventors work directly听with TU's听outside
patent attorneys.

Your contacts may be very helpful as we contact听
potential听licensees during the marketing process.听
Non-disclosure agreements听are signed to interest
company to review more detailed and unpublished听
data and information and to potentially
visit your lab.

Select a company that shows interest in
the invention.听
If a new听 business start-up
has been chosen as a commercialization path,
OTT will assist in planning, creating and听
funding the start-up.听

A License agreement is a contract between TU
and a third parry in which TU's rights to a technology
are licensed (without relinquishing owernship)
for financial and other听consideration. Licensing is
a team approach听involving听
both OTT and the inventor(s).听

The licensee contnues the advancement of the
technology, and makes other buisness investments
to develop the product or service.听

Revenues recieved by TU are distributed to

encourage further participation in
