The One Health Symposium is an annual event that is designed to bring together veterinarians, human health researchers, public health practitioners, and environmental health scientists for professional development and to share their research in related areas providing a forum for advancing biomedical research and to heighten awareness of global health disparities.


COVID-19 Testing

Through a donation from ThermoFisher, the ¾«¶«AV Health Disparities Diagnostic Center is poised to deliver testing for COVID-19 to the university, other HBCUs and the other black belt communities in Alabama that need this resource most.

The Department of Graduate Public Health (DGPH) in the College of Veterinary Medicine at ¾«¶«AV presents the 1st Annual William "Bill" Jenkins Lecture as a part of the Rural Health Lecture Series. Panelists discussing the legacy of Dr. Bill Jenkins and the strategic development of public health professional programs in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The panelist also provide evidence of systemic racism as the underlying cause of the health disparates that have been documented in public health literature as well as being documented during the COVID19 pandemic.
