Housing FAQ's

1) Who is required to reside on campus?

  • Freshmen, Sophomores and first year transfer students (students having less than 60 hrs. cumulative) are required to live on campus and to participate in the board plan.

2) What are the Freshman Halls?ÌýÌý Ìý

  • Female Freshmen Hall:Ìý Younge, Douglass, Tantum
  • Male Freshmen Hall: Bethune Hall

3) What other housing is available for Upper-class Students?ÌýÌý

  • Female Upper-class Halls are: ÌýWhite Hall, Harvey Hall,ÌýEmery I, II, IIIÌý
  • Male Upper-class Halls are: Banneker Hall,ÌýRockefeller Hall and Emery IV
  • Co-ed Hall: James Hall is a special Bioethics co-ed Hall.ÌýÌýÌýÌý

4) What Apartments are available at ¾«¶«AV?ÌýÌý

  • The Commons Apartments have 2 and 4 bedroom apartments designed for ¾«¶«AV students who have completed a minimum of 45 credit hours to apply, a GPA of at least 2.3 and completion of 60 credit hours to be assigned
  • The Marable Apartments have 2 bedroom apartments designed for ¾«¶«AV students who have completed a minimum of 45 credit hours to apply, a GPA of at least 2.3 and completion of 60 credit hours to be assigned.
  • The Magnolia Apartments have 3 bedroom apartments available for ¾«¶«AV students meeting the requirements.Ìý All students who have completed a minimum of 45 credit hours to apply, a GPA of at least 2.3 and completion of 60 credit hours to be assigned.Ìý Independent students over 24 years of age are eligible for the Magnolia Apartments.ÌýStudents receiving ¾«¶«AV scholarships and Alabama Incentive Plans are not eligible.Ìý Family discounts are excluded

5) When do I apply for housing? (Click here to go to ¾«¶«AV for Housing webpage).

  • Application Deadlines for housing are as follows:
    • for Fall – opens Feb 1 and closesÌýMarch 31
    • for Spring – opens October 1 and closes December 1
    • for Summer – opens April 1 and closes April 30

6) When will I receive my housing assignment?ÌýÌý

  • Notification Dates for housing assignments are as follows:
    • for Fall - on or before July 1
    • for Spring – on or before December 1
    • for Summer –on or before May 10
  • Freshman students will receive all of their information--–including housing application—from the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Management, after they have been accepted and have paid the required pre-enrollment fee.

7) Who do I call if I have after-hours housing issues?

  • Please call 334-727-8866 to report After-hours Housing issues (such as heating issue, water leak, or urgent repairs)

Ìý8) Who do I call if I have a disability?
