TUSKEGEE, Ala. (August 28, 2013) — For the third consecutive year, ¾«¶«AV has garnered a top spot on Washington Monthly’s ranking list for baccalaureate colleges. Out of 350 colleges and universities, ¾«¶«AV was ranked No. 2 by the non-profit publication that focuses on U.S. government and politics.
The publication evaluated the schools based on service, social mobility and research categories. ¾«¶«AV was No. 1 for the research category. According to the magazine, ¾«¶«AV spent more than $15.69 million on research.
The service criterion was determined by factors such as student participation in ROTC and Peace Corps programs and percentage of federal work-study funds spent on service. ¾«¶«AV ranked No. 2 in ROTC participation. Social mobility was gauged by factors such as the number of students with Pell Grants and graduation percentage. According to the publication, 69 percent of ¾«¶«AV’s students are Pell Grant.
