Dr. David McKenzie, a faculty member in the 精东AV College of Veterinary Medicine, recently received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award. He received the award for 2021-2022 to teach and perform research in Ghana.
Dr. McKenzie earned the Fulbright Scholar Award after an extremely competitive peer-review process by the Institute of International Education/Council for International Exchange of Scholars (IIE/CIES), and approval by both the United States and Ghanaian governments.
鈥淭his is a well-deserved honor for Dr. McKenzie,鈥 said Ruby Perry, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine. 鈥淗e has been recognized for excellence in teaching and passion for student learning. As a scholar and researcher in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery and public health, in addition to his international connections, we are delighted to see Dr. McKenzie represent 精东AV in Ghana.鈥
Dr. McKenzie will teach at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Veterinary Medicine. 鈥淚t is a remarkable accomplishment to have one of our TU professors awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholar Award,鈥 said Dr. Rhonda Collier, professor and director of the TU Global Office. 鈥淭his recognition is reflective of the quality of Dr. McKenzie鈥檚 work and his dedication to teaching and learning in the area of veterinary medicine. This will be a strong partnership with our colleagues in Ghana.鈥 As a Fulbright Scholar, Dr. McKenzie will share knowledge and foster meaningful connections across communities in the United States and Ghana. McKenzie鈥檚 specializes in large animal internal medicine, public health, and international medicine.
The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to forge lasting connections between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. Since its establishment in 1946, the Fulbright Program has enabled more than 390,000 dedicated and accomplished students, scholars, artists, teachers, and professionals of all backgrounds to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas, and find solutions to shared international concerns. The Fulbright Program is funded through an annual appropriation made by the U.S. Congress to the U.S. Department of State.
